Acting in Silent

This is the story of a woman whose life is racked with problems. One day a man who sees her weaknesses approaches. It becomes a test for both her and her husband.
Bread
Director: Sahim Omar Kalifa
Belgium / 2008 / 30 mins / Kurdish (Kurmanji) and Dutch with English Subtitles
The story of a Kurdish family who is facing deportation from a European country. The father forces his teenage children on to street or beg for money while his heavily pregnant wife is expecting soon. Police raid the house where they are staying but one child escapes. The family is reunited later but a tragedy is to follow.
BREAD
Director: Kia Aziz
Argentina / 2008 / 15 mins / Spanish with English subtitles
Young single mother Pari hates the bread factory because it forces her to work more than 60 hours a week for little money, fight with her family and eventually much worse. This film is a look at the struggles faced by an immigrant family.
Butimar

Butimar is the first of a mother and son trilogy. It is the story of a young Kurdish man living in a city who must look after his mother in horrible conditions.
CHEers – HOPE DIES LAST

A Kurdish family trapped in their collapsed house’s basement are crying out for the help of American troops. Fighting continues outside and bombs are still falling however in this difficult time they still have their small problems.
The Chocolate House

A man is suspicious that his wife is cheating on him and their relationship begins to suffer. The wife desperately tries to convince him that he is wrong but the man seems determined to push her away.
The Colour of Death
Director: Aydın Orak
North Kurdistan (Turkey) / 2009 / 12 mins / No Dialogue
This film illustrates the dilemma of modern human beings who are depressed within noisy urban life. The film is about how humans survive when their humanity is taken from them.
