London Kurdish Film Festival is hosting its 2nd Yilmaz Guney Short film Competition Award at the closing evening of the festival which will take place at Spring Studios. The evening will be a unique opportunity to discover the decision of the jury for the competition as well as viewing screenings of the winning short films and enjoying live music and DJs. We are committed to making this event accessible to everyone and so it is free to attend, but as the event is in support of the Halabja Community Playground Project, which is taking place in Halabja, South Kurdistan (Iraq) and is supported by Spring Studios and Kurdish Human Rights Project (KHRP), we are asking all attendees to make a donation of what they can.
Legendary Charlie Gillett, BBC Radio 3 and BBC World Service presenter, will be playing from his great collection exclusively for this event. In recent years Charlie has become one of the country's most influential proponents of ‘world’ music and often includes Kurdish music in his programmes.
Join us for what promised to be a fantastic night and support this important project for the children of most devastated town in Kurdistan. They are in need of a chance in life and LKFF is proud to play its part by organizing this charity night for the project to benefit the children of Halabja and help them to design and build their own play environment.
